Genesis 4:1
After their rebellion in the Garden, Adam and Eve must have wondered whether God would completely abandon them. Yet God did not desert them. He continued to nourish them, protect them, and provide for them. After the birth of their first child, Eve acknowledged that it was only by the Lord's power that she and Adam had produced a son. We should not let our sinfulness discourage us from turning to God and trusting in his help, for apart from him we can do nothing (John 15:5).

Prayer and Praise
MERCIFUL GOD, you sustain us, your people, and for- give our sins. You redeem us despite our unworthiness. Teach us to listen to your Spirit, whom you sent to help us. Enable us to walk in your ways and not depart from them. In your gracious name we pray. Amen
