Gen 17:7
A typical contract is a legally binding agreement between two or more parties. If either party breaches the agreement, the contract is broken. The Lord, however, initiated a special covenant with Abraham, as he did with several other Old Testament people. This covenant was different from most contracts, for God would not break it. It was an everlasting agreement that he upheld despite the faithlessness of his people. Praise God that we are one of "the generations to come" that were promised future blessing. Thanks be to God for Jesus Christ, who fulfilled this eternal promise.
Prayer and Praise
GOD OF THE COVENANT, you have created us, you redeem us, and you sustain us. All that we are and all that we have we owe to you. You are faithful when we are forgetful. You are loving when we are rebellious. You remember your covenant forever. Praise be to you through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen
