The Boast of The Cross

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). How strange are the words of the Bible that say: “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world” (Galatians 6:14) How strange for anybody to boast in the cross the element that gave death to the one loved and believed in.

It is strange indeed, but knowing the reason would stop the amazement as the Bible say “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1Corinthians 1:18) The cross is the unlimited and unseen power of God.

Yes, Jesus died !

The Holy Bible with its two Testaments Old and New testifies and declares that Jesus died. He actually died crucified on a tree. (Review Isaiah 53; Psalms 22; John19)

But Why Did Jesus Die?

1) To demonstrate God’s love:

The Bible answers that question by saying: ”God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).

Jesus died to reveal God’s love for the humanity, the righteous died for the wicked. That’s the first and main reason for which Jesus died on the cross. As God, to whom be honor and glory, no one ever has seen him or could see or reach. His mighty love is so unlimited that he had to reveal it to his creation and that was accomplished through the cross. That’s what we read in the Gospel of John:
“For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).

2) To take away the curse:

The Bible says: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the book of the law” The Bible also says: “There is no one righteous, not even one, there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together became worthless, there is no one who does good, not even one” (Romans 3:11-12)

ResurrectionBecause humanity has broken God’s law, since the times of Adam and Eve till now God’s justice has been set out by judgment and punishment through eternal death in hell without mercy. Punishment also was set out through curses that God had allowed to strike the earth with, such as diseases, murdering, crimes, savagery and disasters .. etc.

All these are caused by the devil because of our sins. (Deuteronomy 28:27)

That’s why Jesus had to come …
He came to take the place of all the wicked and the sinners throughout the world.

The Bible says that: “Christ redeemed us (became our substitute) from the curse of the law (or the curse that strikes people when they brake God’s law) by becoming a curse for us” (Galatians 3:13)

Who ever comes to Christ believing the words of the Bible will be saved (or set free from the curses), because Jesus Christ bore our sins and curses on the cross. This is the peak of a unique love incomparable with any human love that’s why nobody can comprehend it, it should be received by faith or by belief in all what God has said and done for us.

3) To destroy the devil’s work:

The only enemy for the whole creation is the devil. He is the enemy of anything good, he is not a mythology or a shadow but a true entity an evil spirit working against God and against humanity loved by God. His name is the deceiver who deceives people. The Bible is telling us that Jesus came to our earth, died on the cross to destroy the devil’s work done against you. We read in (1John 3:8) “the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work

Jesus taught and said: “The thief (The devil) comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that you may have life and have it to the full” (John 10:10)

The thief is obviously the devil who steals your money, your health, your family peace or may be would steal your children so they turn against you after you’ve raise them. He transmits evil thoughts to drive humanity to destruction causing them also to destroy and to deception causing them to deceive.

But thanks to the living Jesus who came to give life. He would give you a new birth making a new creation out of you and compensate the years that you’ve lost suffering under the sins and the slavery of Satan.

And now you may ask by saying: What must I do to be saved and have the guarantee of the eternal life?

Now, you need to know these facts:

  • You are a sinner like all the other people because you have inherited the sin of our father Adam and also because you’ve sinned a lot. (Review, Romans 3:11-12; Isaiah 53:6)
  • Since you are a sinner you are going to perish as the judgment and the wages of sin according to God’s word is eternal death and suffering in a fire that is not quenched and worm that does not die. (Romans 6:23; Revelation 21:8)
  • Since you are going to perish you need savior and because God is fully and absolutely just, you need somebody to pay the price of your iniquities (to sponsor you) and only Jesus did that by his death on the cross.

And now the matter is extremely easy…just do your part … nothing could be accomplished unless you start the first step. You have to start by a wholeheartedly decision to believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead in the third day as it is written in the scriptures. And that He is the living Christ who did bear your iniquities, your diseases and curses on the cross as an offering sacrifice instead of you, and he rose to give you a victorious life.

Come to him … call on him and ask him to start with him a new relationship and tell him from all your heart and with a well heard voice those words:

Lord I need you … I need you to set me free from the slavery of my enemy the devil … only you died for me on the cross … only you is the living Christ who is able to hear me and to redeem me … save me as you are the only savior … I love my lord, my strength … Amen.
